The 'IEEE PES T&D' is a global power industry exhibition that brings together power equipment manufacturers, utilities, and related organizations from around the world. It is the largest power infrastructure exhibition in the United States, featuring the latest technologies and solutions for power transmission and distribution.
At this exhibition, Taihan Cable presented a range of strategic products, including HVDC and submarine cables, as well as solutions for upgrading aging power grids. The company focused its display on areas where demand is expanding in the North American market, with the goal of identifying practical business opportunities.
In particular, Taihan Cable emphasized its HVDC technology, which is regarded as next-generation power transmission technology. The company showcased 525kV-class HVDC underground cables, including the 320kV-class project awarded in the United States, as well as 525kV-class HVDC submarine cables applicable to domestic projects such as the ‘West Coast Energy Highway.’ Through this, Taihan Cable highlighted its technological competitiveness for building next-generation power grids.
The company also showcased its investments and comprehensive solutions related to submarine cables. Taihan Cable shared key achievements from domestic and overseas submarine cable projects, along with the current construction status and production capacity of its second submarine cable plant in Dangjin, which is scheduled for completion in 2027. In addition, Taihan Cable introduced the ‘PALOS,’ a cable-laying vessel (CLV) dedicated to offshore wind power projects in Korea, and ‘Taihan Ocean Works,’ its specialized submarine cable construction subsidiary.
The company also featured its solutions for upgrading aging power grids, garnering attention from visitors. These solutions are designed to increase transmission capacity by utilizing existing conduits, which is expected to be in high demand in the U.S. market where a significant portion of the power infrastructure is aging. Leveraging its project experience and technological competitiveness, Taihan Cable provided tailored consultations to prospective clients.
Song Jongmin, Vice Chairman of Taihan Cable, visited the exhibition in person and, together with employees from the company’s U.S. subsidiary, met with key representatives from North American utilities and business partners to discuss ongoing projects and future cooperation. Vice Chairman Song stated, "The North American region is experiencing rapid market growth as power grid investments and the expansion of renewable energy proceed simultaneously. Building on our experience and references in the United States, we will continue to expand our achievements in key areas such as HVDC, submarine cables, and solutions for aging power grids."
