Jo Wonhui, the People Power Party candidate for Yuseong District Mayor, stated, "This Daejeon mayoral election is about whether we will choose a true 'top performer' who works diligently or someone who is completely incapable. It is a crucial election that will determine whether Daejeon will move into 'Fun City Season 2' or continue as 'No-Fun City Season 2.'

During his remarks at the opening ceremony of the People Power Party's campaign office for Daejeon mayoral candidate Lee Jangwoo on May 5, candidate Jo said, "There has never been a re-elected Daejeon mayor, but we will make Lee Jangwoo a two-term mayor. For the past 16 years, the Yuseong District Mayor has always been from the Democratic Party, but this time, I will change that."

The opening ceremony was attended by National Assembly members Na Kyungwon and Park Deokheum, district and city council candidates, and key party officials, all showing their support.

In her remarks, Assemblywoman Na said, "Re-electing candidate Lee Jangwoo is a choice that will achieve both Daejeon's development and a check on central politics at the same time," and added, "With a single decision, we can achieve both regional growth and oversight of the administration-a true win-win effect."

Assemblyman Park commented, "Daejeon is a city where the population has increased for the first time in 12 years," and assessed, "In particular, the rise in the youth population is a key indicator demonstrating the success of Mayor Lee Jangwoo's policies and is a very rare achievement."

Candidate Lee emphasized, "This election is one in which families and citizens run together," adding, "Daejeon citizens must unite as one and ensure victory."

He further stressed, "Daejeon's identity is that of a 'city of pioneers' created by scientists and innovators," and pointed out, "Core industries of South Korea such as semiconductors, CDMA, and nuclear power all began here."

He continued, "This election is not just a local election but a choice to defend liberal democracy," and asserted, "The people must pass judgment to keep unchecked power in check."

Candidate Lee highlighted the achievements of the 8th popularly elected administration, stating, "We reversed Daejeon's population decline of 12 years in just three years, and swiftly normalized long-delayed projects such as the construction of Urban Railway Line 2 (tram), Gapcheon Eco Lake Park, Hanwha Life Ballpark, and the completion of Yuseong Complex Terminal."

He added, "We decisively corrected the stagnant municipal administration that had been delayed due to slow policy decisions," emphasizing his administration's contrast with previous ones.

Candidate Lee stressed, "Daejeon's victory will be the starting point for change throughout South Korea," and added, "With the power of the citizens, we will definitely win and complete the city's development." He concluded by appealing for support, saying, "This is a choice for our children and future generations."
