Nexen Tire announced on May 6 that it has adopted OpenAI’s enterprise-level ‘ChatGPT Enterprise’ to expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI) across all aspects of its work.
The company plans to leverage ChatGPT Enterprise to apply AI to core tasks such as knowledge search, document creation, and data analysis, thereby enhancing its data-driven decision-making framework. Nexen Tire aims to move beyond simple task automation by building an “agentic AI” environment, in which AI performs work and collaborates with employees, transforming the company’s overall operational approach.
The company is also running training programs for its employees. Last month, it conducted training for over 1,000 managers and researchers in Korea, and plans to further activate AI utilization by operating AI bootcamps, establishing expert training courses, and hosting case study presentations.
Nexen Tire has already been applying AI and big data technologies throughout its research and development processes. In 2020, it established an ‘AI big data-based tire noise reduction prediction system,’ and in 2022, it introduced its own virtual design system by developing a ‘machine learning-based tire performance prediction system,’ thereby advancing its virtual tire development process using AI.
In addition, the company has introduced an AI-based automated product inspection system into its actual inspection processes, improving the precision of product inspections and enhancing quality competitiveness. Last year, Nexen Tire became the first in the Korean automotive industry to introduce a high-dynamic driving simulator, further increasing the precision of virtual-based tire design.
A Nexen Tire representative stated, “The tire development process, which requires thousands of simulations and vast data analysis, is fundamentally changing with the introduction of AI,” adding, “We aim to create an environment where AI serves as the basic language of work, leading the digital transformation of the tire industry.”
