LIV Golf: "There Is No Financial Crisis"

PIF Announces End of Sponsorship Next Year, Shaking Up the Scene
CEO O'Neil Expresses Confidence in Securing New Sponsors
"We Have Received 12 Investment Inquiries"

LIV Golf has expressed confidence in securing new sponsors.

On May 5 (local time), CEO Scott O'Neil said in an interview with AFP, "We have received 12 investment inquiries," adding, "We are very positive, as high-net-worth individuals who invest in private equity and sports are among them." LIV Golf has faced a crisis due to the withdrawal of sponsorship from the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF).

CEO O'Neil also stated, "We are in discussions with broadcasters and marketing partners," and added, "We have a clear direction." He further expressed confidence, saying, "I believe that if we establish a business plan and secure funding, players will choose to come here."

LIV Golf, backed by massive funding from Saudi Arabia, launched its golf tour in 2022. Golf stars such as Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson (both from the United States), and Jon Rahm (Spain), joined LIV Golf, attracting significant attention.

However, the announcement that the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) will suspend sponsorship starting next year has brought financial difficulties. Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed (both from the United States) decided not to renew their contracts with LIV Golf and returned to the PGA Tour. Starting May 7, LIV Golf will continue with the LIV Golf Virginia tournament.
