She earned a Master of Public Administration from Seoul National University's Graduate School of Public Administration and a Master of Laws (J.D.) from Sungkyunkwan University Law School.
She has previously worked as a secretary and aide to a National Assembly member and served as an administrative commissioner for the Political and Administrative Division of the National Planning Advisory Committee. During the Moon Jae-in administration, she worked as an administrator at the Office of the Senior Presidential Secretary for Civil Affairs in the Presidential Secretariat.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party of Korea has decided to nominate Moon-Young Lim, Standing Vice Chair of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee, as its candidate for the Gwangsan-eul by-election, which will be held alongside the June 3 local elections.
This election is shaping up to be increasingly competitive, expanding beyond the main parties to include third-party candidates. From the People Power Party, former mayoral preliminary candidate Tae-Uk Ahn has declared his candidacy, while the Progressive Party has selected Ju-Yeon Jeon as its candidate, and the Basic Income Party has chosen Ji-Hye Shin. Additionally, Bon-Gi Koo, former head of Candlelight Action, has announced his intention to run as an independent.
