Last month at the JM Eagle LA Championship, Kim Se-young led by two strokes after three rounds but faltered in the final round and eventually lost to Hannah Green (Australia) in a playoff. She then missed the cut at the season's first major, the Chevron Championship. After the Chevron Championship, Kim took a break and focused on her mental recovery. She will now be aiming for her 14th career victory at the Mizuho Americas Open.

A total of 19 Korean players will compete in this event. In addition to Kim Se-young, the field includes Choi Hye-jin, Kim A-lim, Yoo Hae-ran, Yoon Ina, Hwang Yu-min, Ko Jin-young, Choi Woon-jung, Lee Mi-hyang, Shin Ji-eun, Lee Il-hee, Yang Hee-young, Jeon In-ji, Kang Min-ji, An Na-rin, Lee Jeong-eun5, Kang Hye-ji, Park Geum-gang, and Joo Soo-bin. Meanwhile, Kim Hyo-joo, ranked No. 3 in the world and a two-time winner this year, will participate in the KLPGA Tour's NH Investment & Securities Ladies Championship, which is being held during the same period.

World No. 1 Nelly Korda (USA), who has won back-to-back titles in her last two tournaments, will not participate. Korda has dominated this season with three wins and three runner-up finishes in six events. After competing in the Riviera Maya Open in Mexico last week, she is taking a break and is scheduled to play at the Kroger Queen City Championship, which begins on May 14.
