On May 5 (local time), all three major U.S. stock indices closed higher, buoyed by a decline in international oil prices. In particular, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq indices once again reached record highs.
On the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) that day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.73% compared to the previous trading day. The S&P 500, which focuses on large-cap stocks, closed up 0.81%, while the technology-heavy Nasdaq index ended the session with a 1.03% gain.
