Osan Mayoral Candidate Lee Kwonjae Announces Pledge for "Transportation Innovation Starting at the Front Door"

Lee emphasized, "Public transportation directly impacts a city's competitiveness," and pledged, "I will drastically reduce commuting times," as he announced his public transportation policy.

During the eighth popularly elected administration, Lee achieved several milestones: securing the extension of the GTX-C line to Osan, launching the intercity bus route (5104) to Seoul Station, opening routes to Seongnam Pangyo and Yatap (routes 8301, 8302, 8303), resuming operations of intercity bus lines to Gimpo Airport and Jamsil·East Seoul, and introducing village buses for student commutes.

Lee stated, "I have worked with the central government and the National Assembly to improve mobility for Osan's 270,000 citizens, which has yielded tangible results. Still, it's not enough. If elected for a second term, I will further expand the transportation network to enhance citizens' convenience."

He also pledged to dramatically improve railway transportation.

Lee stressed, "I will ensure the extension of the Bundang Line to Segyo 2 and 3 New Towns and push for the early opening of the GTX-C line."

He added, "I will secure KTX stops at Osan Station via Suwon Station, transforming Osan into a nationwide transportation hub. I will also propose the undergrounding of the Gyeongbu Line to the government to alleviate noise-related inconveniences, resolve the east-west divide, and reorganize the urban space."

Lee also pledged a major expansion of the regional and urban transportation networks.

He emphasized, "I will introduce a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system between Segyo New Town and Osan Station to revolutionize the urban transportation framework," and "implement Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) to eliminate transportation blind spots." The BRT system is exemplified by dedicated bus lanes in Seoul and Sejong, while the DRT system is represented by the Ttok Bus service.

He also stated, "I will establish new metropolitan bus routes in the Segyo district and increase the frequency of routes connecting major city centers such as Seoul Station, Jamsil, and East Seoul to significantly reduce commuting times."

Lee pledged to realize a citizen-centered daily transportation system.

"I will designate the areas around Osan Station, Sema Station and Sema Intersection, and Unamteul as pedestrian-friendly zones,

creating a safe and walkable city," he said.

He continued, "I will expand the use of bicycles and personal mobility (PM) devices to establish an eco-friendly transportation system,

and provide integrated information on walking, PM, and public transportation via a location-based Mobility as a Service (MaaS) app."

Furthermore, he promised to "improve citizen convenience by introducing a real-time parking guidance system and digital kiosks."

Lee also pledged to transform the city with a smart transportation system.

He explained, "By establishing a smart city operations center, I will integrate and manage CCTV and transportation data, and optimize intersection traffic flow with an AI-based signal control system."

He added, "I will also operate an AI chatbot system capable of handling civil complaints 24/7, thereby reducing time and increasing mobility convenience through transportation innovations that enhance travel, parking, and safety-ultimately making a tangible difference in citizens' quality of life."

Lee reiterated, "Through transportation innovation that citizens can truly feel, I will make Osan the transportation hub of southern Gyeonggi Province." [End]
