Until now, government officials at central ministries have often experienced delays in reporting and approvals because, for security reasons, it was difficult to access internal documents outside the office. However, with the adoption of private sector artificial intelligence (AI) technology in public sector work, it has become possible to share or report work network documents via smartphone messenger to people outside the office.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on April 30 that it will officially launch the mobile service for "OnAI (Intelligent Work Management Platform)," which integrates the latest AI technology into administrative work to improve efficiency. The goal is to create a digital work environment that allows government employees to work flexibly regardless of location.
The newly launched mobile service expands the scope of OnAI, which was previously used only on office PCs, enabling officials to use it seamlessly outside the office. By incorporating AI features into work tools such as email, messenger, drive, and video conferencing, the platform supports more field-oriented administration.
Previously, the public sector faced constraints in handling key tasks outside the office due to security concerns. Even to access general documents externally, officials had to transmit materials from the internal network to the external network, then move them again via official email to mobile devices, and finally relay them through commercial messengers like Telegram-a complicated process.
With OnAI, however, a staff member can send a report from the work network to a supervisor on a business trip, who can then immediately check it on their smartphone. If both the staff member and supervisor are traveling, the staff member can access the OnAI application on their smartphone, retrieve documents saved in the work network, and send them via messenger directly.

Without the need for a separate PC, users can share screens and documents with meeting participants via mobile and deliver instructions. Meeting content can be recorded and summarized in real-time by an AI chatbot to generate meeting minutes. The generated records can be sent via email or messenger to ensure continuity of work.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety explained that login to the OnAI mobile service is restricted to those with a mobile government employee ID, blocking illegal external access. Additional security measures, such as capture prevention and restrictions on file storage within the mobile environment, have also been implemented to prevent information leaks while on the move.
This service will first be introduced at four agencies: the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The government plans to gradually expand the service to more than 40 central administrative agencies by the second half of this year.
Yoon Hojoong, Minister of the Interior and Safety, stated, "To ensure that government officials' time is used more efficiently for the people, we will actively introduce the latest private sector AI technology into the public sector to realize a faster, more capable AI-driven democratic government."
