A new experiential space for children to play has opened in Seoul Forest.
On April 30, Hyundai Glovis announced that it is creating an eco-friendly playground for children in Seoul Forest as part of its efforts to build a sustainable future where children and nature coexist.
Hyundai Glovis has established an eco-friendly ecological playground for children within Seoul Forest Park, near its headquarters in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, utilizing natural materials. The space covers approximately 1,000 square meters (about 300 pyeong) and will be completed in phases over a total of three years. The first phase will be unveiled to the public on May 1, in line with the opening of the 2026 Seoul International Garden Expo.
To this end, Hyundai Glovis signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at its headquarters the previous day with the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Urban Garden Bureau, Tree Planet, and the Foundation Together for a Better Society, to pursue long-term collaborative projects and to launch public-private partnership-based social contribution initiatives in earnest.
In the first year of the project, existing outdated facilities were dismantled, and medium- and small-sized play structures such as slides and rest decks, as well as insect habitats, were installed. Around 2,000 shrubs and herbaceous plants were also planted. In the second and third years, two large play structures will be added, and children from metropolitan areas including Seongdong-gu will be invited to participate in ecological and environmental education programs.
This is a mid- to long-term project that combines the construction of play spaces using eco-friendly materials with experiential environmental education, designed to allow children to directly experience the importance of the environment in nature. Once the project is complete, Hyundai Glovis will donate the space to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, enabling it to serve as public infrastructure for the local community.
A Hyundai Glovis representative stated, "We initiated this project to create a space where children can interact with nature and learn the importance of the environment," adding, "We will continue to contribute to a sustainable society through various environmental social contribution activities in partnership with the local community."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Glovis has been consistently fulfilling its corporate social responsibility through various social contribution activities in collaboration with the local community. Previously, Hyundai Glovis established ecological forests at Sangwon Elementary School in Seoul, Okgyeong Elementary School in Gwangyang, Dangsan Elementary School in Dangjin, and Mipo Elementary School in Ulsan. In April last year, the company also organized a spring outing volunteer event for senior citizens in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul.
