Gyeonggi Arts Center to Host Exciting Children's Day Festival in Collaboration with 31 Cities and Counties

The Gyeonggi Arts Center is presenting a 'Children's Festival' for the whole family to enjoy in celebration of Children's Day.

First, the Gyeonggi Arts Center will support performance content in conjunction with Children's Day events held at public institutions and local cultural facilities under Gyeonggi Province. This initiative aims to enable children and family audiences to experience arts and culture close to their daily lives.

On May 2, at venues such as the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation Creation Campus and the Dongducheon Citizens’ Peace Park, performances for children and family audiences will be presented by the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra Brass & Percussion Ensemble, the Gyeonggi Pops Ensemble, and Fusion MC, an arts group selected for the Cultural Welfare program.

From May 3 to 5, the festival will expand to 31 city and county cultural spaces and outdoor stages, featuring diverse performances at each local event site. The Gyeonggi Provincial Dance Company, the Sinawi Orchestra, and the Gyeonggi Pops Ensemble will participate, presenting a variety of performances in each region.

In addition, arts organizations selected through the 'Visiting Cultural Welfare' program will visit various regions to continue their performances, further enhancing the completeness of the Children's Day festival programs.

A variety of events will also take place at the event venues within the Gyeonggi Arts Center. On Children's Day itself, May 5, the center's plaza, open stage, and gallery area will host the signature festival program 'DodamDodam.' Named after a pure Korean word meaning a child growing up safely and healthily, this participatory program is designed for children to freely play and experience the arts.

The main stage at the plaza will feature a lineup of performances including magic shows, bubble shows, and character performances. In the experience zone, play programs such as sand art activities and chalk floor drawing will be available at all times.

During the Children's Festival, both the Grand Theater and Small Theater at the Gyeonggi Arts Center will host performances for children and family audiences.

From May 2 to 3, the Grand Theater will present 'Go Go Dino Insect Exploration Team.' This production, which combines familiar themes of dinosaurs and insects with video, character, and stage production, incorporates both play and educational elements to captivate young audiences.

During the same period, the Gyeonggi Provincial Dance Company will stage the family dance drama 'Dance, Imagination Bundle - Kkyakkongi and Kkamjjigi' at the Small Theater. This performance naturally conveys the values of cooperation and relationships through stories and choreography tailored to children’s perspectives.

On Children's Day, May 5, the popular character show 'Musical Lightning Man Season 2' will be performed at the Grand Theater. With its participatory format and dynamic stage production, it is expected to further engage young audiences.

This year’s Children's Festival is not limited to internal events at the Gyeonggi Arts Center but also includes a performance support program that expands throughout Gyeonggi Province.

An official from the Gyeonggi Arts Center stated, "This Children's Festival has been designed as an integrated program encompassing performances, hands-on experiences, and regional expansion. We hope children will have a more accessible experience with the arts and that families can enjoy arts and culture together."
