The Uiseong County Council has finalized an emergency supplementary budget to respond to high oil prices and economic uncertainty, accelerating efforts to stabilize livelihoods and revitalize the local economy.

The total amount of the newly approved budget is KRW 1.01 trillion, an increase of KRW 64 billion, or 6.8%, compared to the first supplementary budget of KRW 946 billion. By account, the general account is KRW 950.8 billion and the special account is KRW 59.2 billion.

This supplementary budget is focused on alleviating the financial burden on county residents caused by the rise in international oil prices and on restoring vitality to the local economy. Key projects include KRW 12.63 billion for high oil price damage compensation, KRW 35.54 billion for Uiseong residents' high oil price livelihood support, and KRW 1.28 billion for expanding discounts on the Uiseong Love Gift Certificate.

In particular, the budget has been allocated primarily to support programs that residents can feel directly, and is expected to have a tangible effect on reviving local consumption and stabilizing the local economy amid high inflation and high oil prices.

In addition, the Industrial Construction Committee reviewed amendments to the operation plans for five funds, including the 2026 Youth Development Fund and the Investment Promotion Fund. Through these measures, Uiseong County Council aims not only to respond to immediate livelihood needs, but also to strengthen the foundations for mid- to long-term regional development through youth policies and investment infrastructure expansion.

Chairman Choi Hunsik stated, "Prompt action is needed to help residents struggling with rising international oil prices," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure that this emergency supplementary budget proceeds smoothly to stabilize livelihoods and restore the local economy."

This extraordinary session is significant as it demonstrated how swiftly a local council's fiscal response can reach residents on the ground during a high oil price crisis.
