The prosecution has brought Ko Jinsu, head of the Sejong Hotel branch of the Korean Federation of Service Workers' Unions under the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), to trial while in custody. Ko is accused of unlawfully entering the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education building and damaging property after joining a protest demanding the reinstatement of dismissed teacher Ji Haebok.
On April 29, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office announced that Ko was indicted and detained on charges including joint trespassing of a building and joint property damage.
According to the prosecution, on April 15, Ko and 11 fellow protestors unlawfully entered the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in the early morning and damaged property inside. Ko has been charged in connection with this incident.
Additionally, Ko faces charges including obstruction of official duties related to a separate protest held at the Sejong Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, in February, where he allegedly refused to comply with an order to leave while protesting for the reinstatement of dismissed teachers.
On April 15, police arrested 12 people at the protest site, released 9, and then requested arrest warrants for Ko, as well as Baek Jongseong and Lee Sangseon. On April 17, the Seoul Western District Court issued an arrest warrant only for Ko, stating there was "a risk of flight."
