Yeongju City is presenting an exhibition on the Analects of Confucius, interpreting the classic text in contemporary language for today's audience. The city announced that from May 2, 2026, to January 31, 2027, a special exhibition titled "Dialogue - The Analects Answer My Questions" will be held at the special exhibition hall in the annex of the Sosu Museum.
This exhibition will showcase more than 50 different editions of the Analects, including the Treasure No. 485, Daeseongjiseongmunseonwangjeonjwaedo, held at the Sosu Museum. The key feature is its reinterpretation of Confucian philosophy-not as abstract classical knowledge, but as practical questions about life that resonate with the concerns of people today.
The exhibition is structured around several themes: the life of Confucius and the origins of the Analects, dialogues between Confucius and his disciples, fifty essential life questions and answers selected from the fifty volumes of the Analects, and editions of the Analects preserved at Sosu Seowon.
The first section highlights the flow of Confucian thought through the biography of Confucius and his conversations with his students. In particular, visitors will see how Confucius has been honored as a Confucian sage through the "Daeseongjiseongmunseonwangjeonjwaedo." Fifty selected sentences from the Analects will be explained in accessible language, rather than only academic commentary, to enhance visitor understanding.
An experiential space will also be provided. In collaboration with the Yeongju Seonbi Library, a mobile library will allow visitors to freely browse relevant books, and there will be hands-on programs such as copying passages from the Analects, collecting commemorative stamps, and a photo zone with a "Sehando" backdrop.
