Youngwoo Lee, a preliminary candidate for Mayor of Boryeong from the Democratic Party of Korea, and the representatives of the Boryeong National Heritage Guardians Volunteer Group held a meeting at the candidate's campaign office on the 29th and agreed on the need to expand financial support for culture and the arts.

The attendees pointed out the insufficient support for culture and the arts in Boryeong and the worsening living conditions, urging a shift in the administration’s paradigm.

One attendee highlighted that "Boryeong's budget for culture and the arts is only half the level of neighboring Hongseong and Yesan Counties," and proposed that "the preservation of cultural heritage should be designated as a core municipal task."

Candidate Lee presented a plan to "break away from the current structure that relies solely on volunteer work, strengthen administrative support such as providing actual expenses, and fully restore at least one of the three major fortresses-Chungcheong Suyeong Fortress, Nampo Eup Fortress, or Boryeong Eup Fortress-within the term, linking them to tourism programs."

He also emphasized, "I will enhance the dignity of Boryeong by redirecting large-scale investments, which are currently concentrated in sports facilities, toward the field of culture and the arts."
