First AI Subtitles at Pro Sports Stadium: XL8 Implements at KT Wiz Park

XL8 announced on April 29 that it has supplied its AI-powered real-time interpretation and translation subtitle solution, "EventCAT," to Suwon KT Wiz Park, the home stadium of the KT professional baseball team, KT Wiz.

Through its collaboration with KT, XL8 has been providing English subtitles of live match commentary on the stadium scoreboard for all 72 home games of this season at KT Wiz Park, starting with the opening game on April 2.

As the number of foreign spectators at professional baseball stadiums has recently increased, and tour packages now include baseball games as part of their itineraries, new inbound tourism demand is forming. In response, KT introduced EventCAT to improve the viewing experience for global fans and to expand the reach of K-culture.

According to the company, this marks the first time that AI-powered real-time subtitles have been applied at a professional sports stadium in Korea. Previously, EventCAT has delivered subtitles for international film festivals, award ceremonies, major global events, and has also provided live subtitles for overseas sports broadcasts through partnerships with global media companies such as "Zixi" and "Caton Technology."

EventCAT’s technological capabilities enable customized, high-quality translations at live venues, including: ▲ "Simultaneous Machine Translation (SiMT)" technology, which translates immediately based on the context of speech; ▲ "Automatic Chunking" technology, which divides long sentences into meaningful segments for processing; and ▲ a "Glossary" feature that allows the system to learn specialized terms up to two minutes before the game begins.

In particular, the core of the solution is XL8’s proprietary AI engine, developed in-house, which is based on over 20 years of curated conversational data from experts. Its ultra-low latency streaming architecture, combined with a real-time self-correction system, guarantees both naturalness and stability in translation.

XL8 aims to enhance the immersive viewing experience for global audiences visiting KT Wiz Park and to contribute to increasing the global accessibility of Korean professional baseball as a cultural tourism content through this deployment.
