Seven Core Pledges Focused on Tourism, Youth, and Industry... "Preparing for Hamyang's Next 100 Years"

Jin Byungyoung, the county governor of Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, has officially announced his candidacy for the upcoming June 3 local elections, embarking on his bid for re-election.

Governor Jin held a press conference where he announced the preliminary candidate registration schedule, as well as his vision for the county administration and seven core pledges.

During the press conference, Governor Jin stated, "Despite the restrictions I face as the incumbent governor in preparing for the election, I delayed registering as a preliminary candidate in order to fulfill my responsibilities to the county administration until the end," adding, "I believed that keeping my promises to the residents should come first."

He also referenced major local events such as the recent Gyeongnam Provincial Sports Festival, the National Sports for All Festival, and the upcoming 65th Cheollyeong Cultural Festival, which will be held from May 1. He stressed, "It would not be right to neglect important county matters and focus solely on election preparations."

He stated that he would register as a preliminary candidate after the Cheollyeong Cultural Festival concludes and would officially launch his campaign office around May 7, thereby fully transitioning into election mode.

◆ "98% of pledges fulfilled... Ushered in the era of a 700 billion won budget"

Governor Jin reviewed the achievements of the 8th popularly elected administration, saying, "I fulfilled 98% of my pledges and achieved numerous firsts, including the nation's first, Korea's first, and Gyeongnam's first accomplishments."

He cited key achievements such as the opening of a small movie theater, the operation of a seasonal workers support center and an integrated care center, the introduction of a mobile civil complaint handling team, door-to-door collection of household waste, and the operation of a free circulator bus.

He further emphasized that, by securing national and provincial funds, the county administration entered the era of a 700 billion won budget for the first time in its history.

◆ Announcement of seven core pledges... Focus on tourism, youth, and industry

Governor Jin declared, "The 9th popularly elected administration will be a time of completion," and presented seven core pledges. The major pledges include: ▲ Achieving 10 million annual visitors ▲ Hosting the 2030 Sansam Expo ▲ Creating 2,000 youth jobs ▲ Resolving livestock odor issues in Hamyang-eup ▲ Cultivating the region as a sports hub ▲ Developing an integrated brand for mountain tourism ▲ Early completion of a large-scale data center. In particular, he outlined a plan to link tourism, industry, and youth policies to drive local economic revitalization.

◆ "If you stop, you start over; if you continue, you achieve completion"

Governor Jin stated, "If the past four years were a time for planting seeds, the next four years will be a time for harvest," adding, "Rather than flashy projects, I will pursue policies that truly benefit the lives of our residents with a high degree of completeness."

He continued, "It may not have been perfect, but I believe the direction was right," appealing for support by pledging, "I will walk together with the residents as we prepare for Hamyang's next 100 years."

Meanwhile, Governor Jin was confirmed last month as the People Power Party's candidate for Hamyang County Governor.
