Goheung County (County Governor Gong Young-min) announced that it will conduct a preliminary demand survey for the application of the "2027 Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project" from May 4 to 15.
This project is a national funding contest led by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and the Korea Energy Agency, providing support for the installation costs of solar power, solar thermal, and geothermal equipment in residential houses and buildings.

If selected for the project, 80% of the installation costs will be covered (50% national funding, 30% local funding), reducing the self-funding requirement to approximately 10-20%. For example, under the 3kW solar power standard, the self-funding amount is about 1.21 million won. After installation, households can expect to save about 40,000 to 50,000 won per month on electricity bills.
Since 2021, the county has completed installations at 704 locations across 12 towns and townships. This year, the project is being carried out at 371 locations in 5 towns and townships. Starting in 2027, the county plans to expand the project in phases by dividing all 16 towns and townships into two regions.
Applicants must submit the building register, personal signature verification, and comprehensive customer information from Korea Electric Power Corporation, among other required documents. However, unregistered or illegal buildings are excluded from eligibility.
An official from the county's New and Renewable Energy Division stated, "Energy cost reduction amid continued high oil prices is directly linked to the livelihood stability of county residents," adding, "We will focus our administrative resources on being selected for the project so that more residents can benefit."
