This fund aims to support the growth of early-stage companies founded on research outcomes within research and development special zones. The selected fund manager will establish the fund by the fourth quarter of this year and operate it for more than 10 years. By not distinguishing between the investment and exit periods, the fund is designed to enable flexible investment in early-stage deep-tech companies.

The main investment targets include early-stage research institute spin-offs, government-funded research institutes, startups established by science and technology institutes, and businesses commercializing public technology.

The fund manager recruitment will be open until May 19, with the final selection scheduled for June. An informational session will also be held in Daejeon on May 7.

Lee Eunyeong, Director of Research Outcomes and Innovation at the Ministry of Science and ICT, said, “We will support deep-tech companies from the early stages so they can overcome the hurdles of technology commercialization and lead the global market.”
