Daejeon City is seeking organizations to operate the "Youth Tomorrow Store," a platform that provides practical entrepreneurship opportunities, with applications open until May 29.
This initiative aims to create a practical entrepreneurship testbed, led by youth organizations, utilizing idle spaces and local alley commercial districts within the region. It is designed to provide an environment where young people aspiring to start businesses can take on the challenge without burden.
Unlike the previous approach, which supported individual entrepreneurs with remodeling costs or rent, Youth Tomorrow Store will allow youth organizations to directly establish and operate the spaces, providing entrepreneurship opportunities to multiple aspiring young entrepreneurs through a rotation system.
A key feature is that it is designed to enable participants to experience entrepreneurship without initial capital. Participants can operate stores without bearing rent or space setup costs, and all revenues will go directly to the participants. The program is expected to strengthen the foundation for youth self-reliance while also revitalizing local alley businesses.
This call for applications will select a new operating organization for Youth Tomorrow Store in one of the following districts-Jung-gu, Seo-gu, Yuseong-gu, or Daedeok-gu-excluding Dong-gu, which has already been selected for the project.
Eligible applicants are youth organizations or companies whose representative is a young adult (aged 19 to 39) or where young people make up at least 50% of the project team. Selected organizations will receive KRW 200 million per year for two years, totaling KRW 400 million, and must create at least four stores to offer short-term (three to six months) rotational entrepreneurship opportunities and consulting for youth.
In the already selected area of Cheolgongso Street in Wong-dong, Dong-gu, entrepreneurship spaces and temporary stores will be established in earnest beginning in May. Programs to support entrepreneurship growth and capacity building in collaboration with specialized institutions, as well as communication and hands-on experience programs, will also be operated.
Min Donghee, Director of Education Policy and Strategy at Daejeon City, stated, "Youth Tomorrow Store will serve as a solid stepping stone for young people dreaming of starting a business and as a key channel injecting new vitality into the local community. We hope for the active interest and participation of capable youth organizations."
Organizations wishing to participate should submit the required documents, including a business plan, to the youth policy department of the relevant district by May 29. The city will announce the final selection results at the end of June after reviewing documents, conducting on-site inspections, and holding presentations. Further details can be found on the Daejeon City website.
