The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on April 29 that it has begun accepting applications for the 'Employment Link Long-term Service Incentive,' focusing on Gwangsan-gu, an area designated for preemptive response to employment crises.
This program is part of the 'Gwangju Employment Link Crisis Overcoming Project,' supported by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Gwangju Metropolitan City. Its aim is to prevent the outflow of skilled workers in the local home appliance and rubber industries and to support employees' long-term retention.
Eligible applicants are workers aged between 15 and 59 who have worked for more than three years at a designated company. Those who meet the requirements will receive a long-term service incentive of up to KRW 2 million per person.
In particular, priority will be given to workers with unpaid wages, young employees (aged 15 to 39) earning no more than 110% of Gwangju's living wage standard, and middle-aged employees (aged 40 to 59) earning no more than 130%. The plan aims to improve employees' livelihoods and further strengthen employment stability.
Applications can be submitted online directly by employees via the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry's website until May 15.
All applications will be reviewed based on eligibility criteria and required documents, after which the final recipients will be selected. The incentive will then be paid sequentially, following confirmation of continued employment.
Chae Hwaseok, Executive Vice President of the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated, "I hope that this long-term service incentive serves as a solid support for employees who have remained at their posts despite difficult circumstances. Since the employment stability of skilled workers is essential for the revival of local crisis industries, we will continue to contribute to the stabilization of the employment ecosystem and the revitalization of the local economy through systematic support tailored to our region's industrial environment."
Meanwhile, the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry is also operating the 'Employment Link Settlement Support Fund' program to ease the initial adaptation burden after job changes and to compensate for income gaps among involuntarily separated workers.
