Mobile Exchange Vouchers Received on KakaoTalk Can Now Be Shared with Family and Friends... Launch of 'Shared Use' Feature

Kakao announced on the 29th that it will introduce the 'Shared Use' feature in KakaoTalk Gift, which allows exchange vouchers to be used together with family or acquaintances.

The Shared Use feature enables users to share and manage exchange vouchers, which were previously stored individually, with members of a Family Account. Previously, sharing vouchers with family or acquaintances required capturing images or copying messages to send them, but this new feature reduces such inconvenience by allowing vouchers to be shared directly within the Gift Box.

To use Shared Use, users can create a Family Account or join an existing Family Account through an invitation in the newly added Shared Use tab in the KakaoTalk Gift Box. Connected members can share and manage exchange vouchers together within the Gift Box without having to share images separately.

Gifts received through sharing can be checked and used immediately in the Gift Box. Members can check the expiration date and usage status of shared vouchers in real time, and notifications are sent when a voucher is used to prevent duplicate usage among members.

With this new feature, Kakao aims to expand the usage of exchange vouchers from being individually centered to a shared experience among family and acquaintances, thereby enhancing the user experience of the Gift service.

A Kakao representative stated, "This Shared Use feature focuses on enabling more flexible use of exchange vouchers and increasing connectivity among members," adding, "We will continue to advance our service features to provide users with an even more convenient and enriched gift experience."

Meanwhile, KakaoTalk Gift can also be used through Kakao's artificial intelligence (AI) services, 'Kanana in KakaoTalk' and 'ChatGPT for Kakao.' Users can receive gift recommendations through conversations with Kanana and make purchases immediately. In ChatGPT for Kakao, users can also receive and purchase gift recommendations simply through conversations via the AI agent service 'KakaoTools.'
