Sung Hyun Park, Independent Candidate for Mayor of Gwangyang, has launched a "citizen-participatory policy campaign" that allows citizens to directly propose policies and shape campaign pledges, marking the start of his full-fledged bid to win public support.
On April 29, Candidate Park announced under the slogan, "Your thoughts become Gwangyang's future," that he will be actively collecting campaign pledges from Gwangyang citizens for one week, from today (April 29) through May 6. This initiative reflects Park's strong commitment to directly incorporating voices closely tied to citizens' everyday lives into his campaign.
This policy proposal campaign is designed to include all generations, from digitally savvy youth to seniors. Citizens can conveniently participate by responding to a survey via the QR code on distributed web posters or by sharing their opinions directly through a dedicated phone line.
A representative from Park's campaign stated, "The proposals collected will be incorporated into Candidate Park's ongoing relay pledges and included as 'citizen pledges' in the official election materials and policy implementation plans." The representative added, "This campaign best exemplifies the 'Citizen Camp' identity of an independent candidate who looks only to the citizens."
Candidate Park emphasized, "I will restore the pride of Gwangyang citizens through citizen-led pledges," adding, "By wearing yellow sneakers and listening to citizens out in the field, I will turn what I hear into key pledges that revive the local economy and secure the future of our children."
Meanwhile, Candidate Park is continuing his policy campaign by announcing a series of five relay pledges, which include the renewal of steel and port facilities, establishment of a 24-hour All-Care Support Center, and the provision of support payments for livelihoods. The opinions gathered through this citizen pledge collection will be formally announced in mid-May as the "Hope Pledges for Gwangyang Made by Citizens."
