Polaris AI is making a full-fledged entry into the humanoid robot market, expanding its industrial and home physical AI business. The company’s strategy is to secure leadership in the domestic supply chain through collaboration with global leading companies in the robot market, which is expected to surpass the automotive industry in terms of data utilization and learning demand.

On April 29, Polaris Group announced that it had signed an official partnership with global humanoid robot company UBTECH Robotics, and that the two companies will jointly conduct industrial and home AI robot business in the domestic market. Under this agreement, Polaris AI will take on overall responsibility for supplying UBTECH's commercial robot platforms in Korea, as well as managing distribution channels.

Founded in 2012, UBTECH is a global robotics company with a market capitalization of approximately 9.7 trillion won. The company develops core robotic technologies in-house, including servo motors, computer vision, and autonomous driving. In 2023, UBTECH became the first Chinese humanoid robot company to be listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Most recently, it demonstrated its technological capabilities by signing a robot supply contract with Airbus.

The core of this project lies in combining proprietary technology rather than simply distributing hardware. Polaris AI plans to directly integrate its in-development ‘Edge AI’ solution into robots to realize intelligent robotic systems. While conventional cloud-based AI faces issues such as communication delays and security risks, Edge AI processes computations on the device itself, ensuring both stability and security.

To this end, Polaris AI has continuously accumulated expertise in building on-device AI environments and neural processing unit (NPU) technologies. In the future, the company plans to further refine its own AI framework and optimize its application to UBTECH robot hardware, aiming to introduce solutions that operate independently even in environments with limited connectivity.

This collaboration has further clarified the physical AI value chain pursued by Polaris Group. Polaris Office will handle the AI software, leveraging its data processing capabilities built through a global user base of 138 million, while Polaris AI will be responsible for robot hardware distribution and Edge AI implementation. This structure is expected to enable the construction of an integrated physical AI platform equipped with both a “brain” and a “body.”

A company representative stated, “The humanoid robot industry will grow into a key sector that surpasses the mobility market in the future,” adding, “By integrating Edge AI technology, we will deliver highly advanced physical AI solutions.” The representative also emphasized, “By combining our group’s software capabilities and hardware infrastructure, we will become a core company driving innovation across both industry and daily life.”

Recently, global big tech companies such as Tesla have also recognized the high potential of the physical AI market and are making active investments and expanding their ecosystems. In line with this trend, Polaris Group is pursuing broad-based business expansion from industrial automation to home robots, and plans to enter the full-scale implementation stage starting with this collaboration.
