Chaebi, the leading charge point operator (CPO) for electric vehicle (EV) rapid charging infrastructure in Korea, announced on April 29 that it will launch a dedicated EV charging subscription product exclusively for Hyundai Motor customers. Through this collaboration, both companies aim to address the challenges of charging infrastructure accessibility and charging cost burden simultaneously, leading the mobility ecosystem in the era of one million EVs.
According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, out of 164,813 newly registered vehicles in Korea in March, 41,232 were electric vehicles, achieving a penetration rate of 25%. This represents an approximately 2.2-fold increase compared to March of the previous year (18,431 units). As of March, cumulative EV sales surpassed the one million mark, reaching 1,020,948 units. Annual sales this year are expected to reach around 400,000 units.
In line with this trend, Chaebi will launch a dedicated subscription product in May for customers purchasing new Hyundai Motor vehicles. The program is designed so that all customers who take delivery of a new vehicle in 2026 can receive the benefits, regardless of their delivery date. For a monthly subscription fee of either 19,900 won or 9,900 won, subscribers can use Chaebi's nationwide ultra-fast and fast charging network at significantly discounted rates throughout the remainder of 2026.
Key benefits include: ▲ A discounted rate of 299 won per kWh when using Chaebi charging stations or roaming partner stations ▲ 10% off when purchasing Chaebi credits (with a minimum purchase of 10,000 won) ▲ Discount coupons for ChaebiStay premium hand car wash services. The subscription product can be joined through the subscription menu in the My Page section of the Chaebi app.
ChaebiStay, the multi-purpose charging and cultural space operated by Chaebi, is currently available at seven major locations in Seoul and the metropolitan area: Gangnam-Seocho, Seongsu, Hongdae, Dunchon, Sinwol, Mapo-Seongsan, and Anyang-Pyeongchon. Subscription customers can enjoy a package of benefits at ChaebiStay, including charging discounts, credit discounts, and premium hand car wash services.
Yeonghoon Choi, CEO of Chaebi, said, "This collaboration marks the beginning of a new benchmark in EV charging experiences, created together by Hyundai Motor and Chaebi. We will do our utmost to ensure that EV customers enjoy richer experiences from charging to daily life, together with Hyundai Motor, the best partner."
