On April 29, LG Display announced that its '27-inch 540/720 Hertz (HZ) OLED Gaming Monitor' panel, equipped with Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR) technology, has won the 'Display of the Year' award, the highest honor presented by the Society for Information Display (SID). This award is the most prestigious distinction given by SID, presented to a single, most innovative product launched in the previous year that is expected to lead the industry's future.

LG Display explained, "This award is significant because it presents a 'user-centric new gaming display paradigm.'"

The key factor behind this recognition is LG Display's proprietary DFR technology. This technology allows users to freely select both refresh rate and resolution according to their preferences. ▲The high refresh rate mode is optimized for FPS (first-person shooter) or racing games, where split-second decisions determine victory or defeat. Supporting an industry-leading 720HZ (HD), it eliminates afterimages and motion blur, delivering an overwhelmingly immersive experience.

▲The high-resolution mode is optimized for games featuring stunning graphics. In particular, LG Display developed and applied a proprietary algorithm to overcome the conventional limitation of image quality degradation when refresh rates exceed 500HZ, enabling both high refresh rates and high image quality to be achieved simultaneously.

Through these advancements, the panel received VESA's highest certification-'ClearMR (Clear Motion Ratio) 21,000'-demonstrating its recognized quality.

Youngseok Choi, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of LG Display, stated, "As a technology-driven company, we will continue to lead the gaming display market by researching and developing innovative OLED technologies based on our differentiated technological capabilities."

Meanwhile, SID is the world's largest display society, attended by over 7,000 experts, researchers, and professors from the global display industry. Every year, it exhibits new technologies and products and presents research papers. This year, the event will be held in Los Angeles, United States, on May 3.
