Seongnam City to Host "Children's Day Grand Festival" at City Hall Plaza with 87 Programs Planned

Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will hold the "Children's Day Grand Festival" at the City Hall Plaza and the first-floor Onnuri Hall on May 5.

This year’s event will be held under the theme "Dreaming Children, Becoming the Future of Seongnam." Approximately 12,000 families are expected to attend the festival, which will feature a total of 87 programs, including a commemorative ceremony, hands-on experiences, performances, and food booths.

The Children's Day commemorative ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on the special stage at the City Hall Plaza.

The event will begin with the Seongnam City Boys and Girls Choir singing the "Children's Day Song," followed by the awarding of certificates to 10 exemplary children, an opening declaration, a robot dance performance, and band and dance performances by Seongnam (SN) talent teams.

A variety of entertainment programs, such as quizzes and games for families, random play dance sessions, and more, will further enhance the festive atmosphere.

In total, 68 play experience booths will be set up and operated across four zones in the City Hall Plaza.

By zone: △In the "Sensory and Imagination Experience Playground," participants can try out 22 activities, including infant robot coding and future Korean (K)-construction experiences. △In the "Fourth Industrial Revolution AI Thinking Playground," there will be 18 activities such as humanoid robot Titan, dancing robots, drone piloting, and creating AI characters.

Additionally, △the "Fidget Playground" will offer six types of activities, including ride-on car play and block play, while △the "Institution and Organization Participation Zone" will provide 22 activities such as VR history experiences and fire truck and police car simulations.

The festival will also feature an exhibition of a giant 6-meter-tall junk art robot, Taekwon X.

There will also be a food market offering a variety of treats, including Sotteok Sotteok (skewered sausage and rice cakes), tteokbokki, and churros.

On the first floor of City Hall, in the 600-seat Onnuri Hall, a series of performances will take place. At 11 a.m., science communicator Kang Solbin will present a science and magic fusion show, and at 2 p.m., kids creator Cha Noeul will perform with his father Cha Noeul.

A Seongnam City official said, "This year's Children's Day event will be set up as a large playground where visitors can directly experience future technologies, such as the giant robot Taekwon and the AI robot Titan. We hope that families will have a special day through the 87 diverse programs offered."
