The members include Ok Suyeol, Lee Yongmin, and Chung Eijoon of the GRAC; Lee Cheolwoo, President of the Korea Game User Association; Sung Soohyun, Head of the YMCA Game Consumer Center; Choi Seunghoon, policy chief of the Korea Association of Game Industry; Na Hyunsoo, Secretary-General of the Korea Game Policy Self-Regulation Organization; Choi Young, Manager at Korea Consumer Agency; and lawyers Sung Sumin and Park Byunghoon. The term lasts for one year and may be renewed.
The subcommittee members review the appropriateness of relief measures for cases submitted to the Damage Relief Center after counseling and investigation. They also deliberate and resolve matters such as reopening investigations into cases previously concluded. In the future, the subcommittee plans to expand its membership to include experts from various fields as the game market environment evolves. At the first subcommittee meeting held after the appointment ceremony on this day, reports were presented on three of the eight damage relief cases submitted to the center.
Meanwhile, since the center’s opening, GRAC has received and processed 228 counseling requests related to probability-based items. The committee is currently verifying recent cases that have sparked controversy due to erroneous or false probability disclosures. Additionally, to strengthen user protection, GRAC signed a business agreement with the Content Dispute Mediation Committee in January. Detailed discussions are ongoing to connect the two organizations’ work processing systems by the second half of this year.
Suh Taegun, Chairperson of GRAC, stated, “The role of the Damage Relief Subcommittee members is more important than ever to ensure that user damage relief related to probability-based items is carried out swiftly and fairly,” adding, “We will continue to establish institutional foundations to further enhance user protection.”
