For the first time in the history of the Republic of Korea Navy, a female Chief Warrant Officer has been appointed.

원본보기 아이콘According to the Naval Operations Command on April 28, Hwang Jihyun was inaugurated as the Chief Warrant Officer of the Maritime Operations Headquarters on this day.
Chief Warrant Officer Hwang was commissioned as a Navy petty officer in the 211th class in 2006. Since then, she has achieved several "firsts," including being the first female petty officer to serve as a training platoon leader and the first in her specialty to be promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer and Chief Warrant Officer on a naval vessel.
Specializing in electronic warfare (electronic detection), she has served on major combat ships such as the destroyers ROKS Gwanggaeto the Great, ROKS Munmu the Great, and ROKS Choi Young.
She is recognized for her contribution to maritime operations, drawing upon her diverse experience serving on various naval vessels.
In 2016, she appeared as the Navy's first female platoon leader on MBC's variety show "Real Men - Navy Petty Officer Special."
Chief Warrant Officer Hwang stated, "I have pursued my dreams with the belief that achieving them can inspire others to dream as well," adding, "As Chief Warrant Officer, I will focus on unit management so that our personnel embody the warrior spirit and successfully accomplish their missions."
