On April 28, the city announced that Mayor Joo Kwangdeok conducted a “Policy Field Tour” in the Dasan-dong area, where he personally checked and inspected key project sites closely related to citizens’ daily lives.

This inspection was carried out as part of the city’s ongoing “field-oriented administration.” The city organized this event to address inconveniences faced by citizens in their daily lives and to thoroughly review the progress of major projects.

On this day, Mayor Joo visited the following locations in sequence: the Gaun High School commuting route, Jigeum-dong cemetery landscape improvement project, Wangsucheon multipurpose grass plaza project, Donongcheon small stream landscape improvement project, and the Haneulnuri Community Child Center.

First, at the Gaun High School commuting route site, Mayor Joo checked pedestrian safety features while walking along the planned route. This project covers a distance of 400 meters with a width of 8 meters, and has already been incorporated into the city management plan. The city expects that once the project is completed, it will ensure students’ safety during commutes and also improve the surrounding traffic conditions.

Next, the inspection continued at the Jigeum-dong cemetery site. In the short term, the city plans to install evergreen screens to block the cemetery from public view. In the mid-to-long term, the city is considering relocation and park development in connection with the Yangjeong Station area development, transforming the site into a rest space for local residents.

Mayor Joo stated, “The safety of students must be the top priority, and the residential environment is directly linked to quality of life. Please focus administrative efforts on swiftly establishing a pedestrian-centered school route and improving the landscape near the cemetery so that citizens can immediately feel the benefits.”

The tour continued with site inspections of the Wangsucheon multipurpose grass plaza project and the Donongcheon small stream landscape improvement project.

The Wangsucheon multipurpose grass plaza project is being developed at the border between Donong-dong and Guri City, covering an area of 16,100 square meters. The site will feature a multipurpose grass plaza (including an 18-hole park golf course) and convenience facilities, with completion targeted for October. The Donongcheon small stream landscape improvement project involves installing landscape lighting along the riverside walking path. The first phase has already been completed, and additional sections are being gradually expanded.

Mayor Joo then visited the Haneulnuri Community Child Center to review the status of local child care operations and programs, and to listen to on-site feedback.

Mayor Joo commented, “We must carefully ensure the safety and convenience of the Wangsucheon multipurpose grass plaza and Donongcheon walking path so that they become relaxing spaces for people of all ages. In addition, we will actively incorporate the voices from child care sites such as community child centers into municipal administration and continue to provide on-site support focused on the field.”
