Buk-gu District in Gwangju is introducing customized programs for residents to help establish the correct practice of "barefoot walking," which has recently become a popular health trend.

On April 28, Buk-gu District announced that it will officially launch the "Barefoot Walking Promotion Program" to improve residents' health and foster a healthy walking culture.

This initiative will begin next month and consists of two main programs: the "Barefoot Walking Club" and the "Barefoot Walking Guide Education." The programs aim to provide residents with accurate information about the increasingly popular activity of barefoot walking and support them in maintaining the exercise on their own initiative.

The "Barefoot Walking Club" will run for a total of 11 weeks until July. For the first four weeks, participants will walk along major trails such as Yongbong Wetland, Munhwa Neighborhood Park, and Yangsan Lake Park with a professional instructor to learn proper walking posture. The following seven weeks will feature a self-led walking challenge among members. Participants will also receive rewards, such as mobile gift certificates, based on their activity levels.

The "Guide Education" program is also available for residents new to barefoot walking. This education session will be held at the Buk-gu Youth Center on June 6, where officials from the Barefoot Walking Movement Headquarters will provide two hours of theory and practical instruction.

Residents who wish to participate can apply through the Buk-gu Public Health Center website or contact the Buk-gu Health Promotion Division for inquiries.

A representative from Buk-gu District stated, "Barefoot walking is an effective exercise that anyone can practice in daily life to restore physical and mental balance without special equipment. We will do our best to create a safe and pleasant barefoot trail environment and to strengthen the quality of the programs so that residents can exercise safely and comfortably."
