Myunghyun Yoo, Sangcheong County Governor Candidate: "Speed and Determination Are Key for Basic Income Application"

"Administration and Politics Must Join Forces for Results...
It Is Time to Prove Ourselves with Outcomes, Not Just Preparation"

Myunghyun Yoo, the preliminary candidate for Sangcheong County Governor from the People Power Party, welcomed the government's additional call for applications for the "Rural Basic Income Pilot Project." However, he emphasized that Sangcheong County's application must ultimately lead to a final selection.

Candidate Yoo stated, "We must approach this call for applications with the determination that this is essentially our last chance," adding, "We should not stop at simply applying; all administrative resources must be mobilized to ensure that we achieve a successful result."

Currently, Sangcheong County's Department of Agriculture and Livestock is taking the lead in preparing for the application, and if selected, the Future Strategy Team is expected to establish the basic plan.

Yoo pointed out, "Rural basic income is not a project that can be achieved merely by applying. It is a competitive structure where only well-prepared local governments are selected," and added, "The scale of benefits that residents can actually feel will depend on the level of meticulous preparation we do now."

He continued, "If we miss this opportunity again, the responsibility will inevitably fall on the county administration," and emphasized, "What matters most at this moment is decisive and swift action by the administration."

He also highlighted the role of the political community. He said, "This project is not just the task of a specific department, but a challenge that the entire Sangcheong County must address together," and added, "If necessary, the political community will also actively participate by assisting in consultations with the central government, improving systems, and securing support."

Furthermore, he stressed, "It is difficult to achieve results if administration and politics act separately," and added, "We can produce tangible outcomes only when we cooperate under a single goal."

Encouragement was also extended to the public officials on the ground preparing the application. Yoo said, "I am well aware of the hard work of the officials handling the practical aspects," and requested, "Please do your utmost until the end so that the current preparation can lead to real benefits for the residents."

He also added, "Administrative and policy support must be provided so that public officials can fully demonstrate their capabilities."

Finally, Candidate Yoo emphasized, "One-time support measures such as livelihood stabilization grants are necessary, but they alone are not enough to revive the local economy," adding, "We need to create a structure that enables continuous consumption, and rural basic income can serve as the starting point for this."
