He recalled, "In 1993, I settled in Osan and ran a milk delivery agency, opening mornings and closing nights," and reflected, "What helped me endure those difficult times was the brief greetings and warmth from neighbors."
He added, "If one's birthplace is considered home, then Osan, where I have spent and built my life for 33 years, is also my precious hometown. The past four years serving as mayor have been the most rewarding and honorable time of my life."
Lee stated, "I want to create a city where children can run and play freely, and where teenagers can learn, dream, and rest." He continued, "I will make Osan a city that gives hope to young people searching for jobs."
He also said, "I want to build a city where the heavy burdens carried in silence by fathers are eased even a little, and where mothers no longer have to cry alone. I will ensure that the elders who built our country receive the respect they deserve, without delay."
Lee emphasized, "I truly love this city and its citizens," adding, "I want to return the love I have received from Osan back to the citizens. I hope that feeling quietly reaches each of you."
The background to Lee's re-election bid lies in the significant accomplishments achieved during the 8th popularly elected term. During his tenure, Lee addressed long-standing issues in Osan, including the re-designation of the Segyo 3 Public Housing District, confirmation of the extension of the GTX-C line to Osan, and the groundbreaking of the Gyeongbu Line railway overpass, positioning himself as "Osan's No. 1 salesman."
In particular, a recent city administration satisfaction survey showed that over 60% of respondents gave positive feedback, indicating that citizens' support for Lee's "steadfast administration" has become the driving force behind his bid for re-election.
