The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will conduct an inspection of public service discipline at all of its affiliated institutions from April 28, 2026, until June 2, the day before the 9th nationwide local elections.
This inspection is intended to prevent any suspicions of public officials intervening in the elections as the election day approaches, and to establish strict discipline on the ground to prevent any potential work gaps that may arise from a relaxed atmosphere.
During this period, the Office will focus on violations such as breaches of political neutrality obligations, violations of work regulations, and delays or neglect in work, as well as any acts undermining public service discipline. Public officials found to have committed misconduct will face strict measures. In addition, the Office plans to strengthen preventive education by sharing major cases as examples.
An official from the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education stated, "During periods that are vulnerable to corruption, such as holidays, election season, and personnel appointments, we establish and implement annual public service work management plans and conduct ongoing inspections to foster a diligent work atmosphere across the public sector and to maintain public service discipline."
