SparkLab Launches Solo AI-Based Startup Program "Spark Claw"

Advance Applications Open for the First Cohort of Spark Claw

SparkLab announced on April 28 that it will officially launch "Spark Claw," an accelerator program specialized for solo AI entrepreneurs and small teams in the era of Agentic AI.

This program launch is part of SparkLab’s strategy to reinforce its investment positioning in the domestic AI sector. SparkLab already has a track record of early investments in OpenAI, Anthropic, and Perplexity through SparkLab Global Ventures, the global VC arm of the SparkLab Group. The company has also invested in xAI, which was acquired by SpaceX this year, and Groq, which was acquired by Nvidia last year.

Spark Claw is designed to discover and nurture "AI native" entrepreneurs who utilize AI not just as a tool but as an actual team member. With this program, SparkLab is making a full-fledged move to invest in solo entrepreneurs operating without a team. This is not a relaxation of existing investment standards, but rather the first case of expanding its investment philosophy.

SparkLab has reinterpreted its existing principle that "the core competence of an outstanding CEO lies in how they lead a team" to fit the Agentic AI environment. In a setting where AI agents handle planning, development, marketing, and customer support, SparkLab believes that solo founders who can effectively manage such capabilities have competitiveness equal to traditional team-based startups. Through this program, SparkLab plans to proactively nurture entrepreneurs with exceptional AI utilization skills.

The selection process consists of an online application, an initial document screening, participation in an intensive bootcamp, and a final investment review. Entrepreneurs who complete the bootcamp may receive up to 100 million won in initial investment. Those not selected for investment will still be managed by being classified into SparkLab’s Stage 2 or Stage 3 teams, maintaining priority access to follow-up batch programs and community membership.

Entrepreneurs selected for investment will receive the same benefits provided to the SparkLab portfolio, along with additional AI company-focused perks worth 500 million won in cash value. These include OpenAI API credits, Anthropic Claude credits, AWS startup discounts, and global SaaS tool packages, all of which provide essential infrastructure for AI startups and help reduce the financial burden in the early stages of entrepreneurship.

Advance applications for the first cohort of Spark Claw can be made through the official SparkLab website. Detailed schedules and eligibility criteria will be announced sequentially.

Yujin Kim, CEO of SparkLab, commented, "Thanks to AI, we have entered an era where, for the first time in history, solo entrepreneurs and small teams can become unicorns within two to three years of founding. Our goal is to discover and nurture these entrepreneurs."
