On April 28, Daehan Petrochemical announced that it plans to proactively raise its NCC operating rate from the current 62% to 72% and secure more raw materials in line with the government’s naphtha supply stabilization policy.

The government is supporting the stabilization of the naphtha supply-which is a key raw material for the production of petrochemical products-by subsidizing up to 50% of the increase in naphtha import prices through the “2026 Naphtha Supply Stabilization Support Program.”

Immediately after the outbreak of the war, Daehan Petrochemical diversified its supply channels to countries including the United States to minimize disruptions in naphtha procurement. For any shortfalls, the company responded by directly purchasing basic feedstocks such as ethylene and propylene to use in the production of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP).

In particular, Daehan Petrochemical has expanded the supply of separator film materials for batteries by more than 60% compared to the previous month, supporting the K-battery industry. Additionally, by increasing ethylene supplies used for cutting steel plates at shipyards, the company is contributing to the stable operation of the shipbuilding industry.

Through these measures, Daehan Petrochemical aims to secure raw materials and expand production simultaneously, thereby enhancing supply stability across downstream industries.

A representative of Daehan Petrochemical stated, “Even amid this unprecedented raw material supply crisis, we plan to actively respond to government policies by expanding naphtha procurement and increasing the NCC operating rate to 72%. We will continue to fulfill our responsibilities as a key national industry to ensure there are no disruptions to downstream industries or the daily lives of the public.”
