Have you seen the spring issue of the children's newspaper 'Big Eye Dorandoran'?

The city of Busan (acting mayor Kim Kyungdeok) will publish the spring 2026 issue (No. 4) of the children's participatory newspaper 'Big Eye Dorandoran' on April 30.

'Big Eye Dorandoran' is a children's newspaper whose name combines 'Big', an abbreviation for 'Busan is Good', and 'Dorandoran', meaning children sharing stories with each other. It delivers a variety of news about Busan from a child's perspective.

This spring issue is the first result produced by the 2nd Little Busan Reporters, which was launched in March 2026. The reporting group, which increased by about 100 members compared to last year, now consists of 314 children who covered various locations throughout Busan and wrote articles.

The newspaper includes coverage of the reporters' inaugural ceremony, visits to spring cultural and experience facilities, an introduction to the National Youth Sports Festival, and information on festivals in May and June. Educational content such as Newspaper in Education (NIE), webtoons, and word quizzes is also included.

The city also expanded the scale of publication. The frequency of publication has increased from three to four times a year, and the number of copies printed has been expanded from 110,000 to 160,000. All grades at 302 elementary schools in the Busan area will be able to receive the newspaper. The number of pages has also been increased from 8 to 12.

The spring issue will be distributed to 443 locations, including local elementary schools, the children's complex cultural space 'Deullak Nallak', libraries, and bookstores. It will also be available through the city's children's newspaper website.

Oh Mikyung, spokesperson for the Busan city government, said, "This will provide more children with an opportunity to build pride in Busan and participate as members of society," adding, "We will continue to enhance communication through the publication of a high-quality children's newspaper."
