The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs is set to create a nationwide chicken belt map, which will feature not only popular chicken dishes such as Suwon fried chicken and Andong Jjimdak, but also regional specialty restaurants offering unique local flavors like Mul Dakgalbi (chicken stew) and dishes made from spent hens.

On April 28, the Ministry announced that, as part of its 'K-Chicken Belt' initiative to connect distinctive chicken dishes and local attractions across the country, it will produce and release the 'K-Chicken Belt National Map' in the first half of the year. The map will be based on ideas submitted through a public participation event.

This event, which ran from March 19 to April 12, was designed to strengthen the K-Chicken Belt by encouraging the public to recommend hidden local restaurants, regional specialty streets, and locations with historical stories. A total of approximately 2,700 ideas were submitted for the 'My Own K-Chicken Pilgrimage Site' contest.

The submissions included not only mainstream menu items such as chicken and Dakgalbi or Jjimdak, but also featured a variety of locally inspired chicken dishes and restaurants, such as chicken course meals, chicken gizzards, Mul Dakgalbi, and spent hen dishes. There were also suggestions to link the map with local landmarks like Suwon Fried Chicken Street, Daegu's Pyeonghwa Market Chicken Gizzard Alley, Andong Jjimdak Street, as well as local festivals such as the Daegu Chimaek Festival and the Geumsan Samgyetang Festival.

Additionally, the ideas included menus utilizing local agricultural products, such as Uiseong and Danyang garlic chicken and Jeju tangerine sauce chicken, as well as experience-based content like Iksan Chicken Road and the Gumi 1991 Culture Street.

Based on these submissions from the public, the Ministry plans to produce and release the K-Chicken Belt National Map within the first half of the year. Alongside the map, videos showcasing famous chicken dish spots across the country, filmed by travel content creators, will also be released. The Ministry expects that the K-Chicken Belt National Map will serve as a practical gourmet guide for both domestic and international tourists.

Jung Kyungseok, Director of Food Industry Policy at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, stated, "Through this event, we have confirmed the potential for chicken dishes to grow as gourmet content linking local food culture and tourism." He added, "We plan to develop tourism content that reflects local stories centered on the submitted pilgrimage sites and promote them in conjunction with private platforms, with the goal of nurturing the K-Chicken Belt as a global gourmet tourism resource."
