The Korea Women's Rights Promotion Institute announced on April 28 that it had been selected as an "Excellent" institution-the highest grade-in the "2025 Public Institution Official Document Evaluation" conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the National Institute of the Korean Language.
The official document evaluation is a system implemented under Article 14 of the Framework Act on the National Language. Its aim is to create a proper language environment in the public sector and promote effective communication with the public.
This year's evaluation targeted 331 public institutions and 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education across the country. Press releases posted on each institution's website were assessed for ▲ease of use (degree of difficult foreign languages or foreign characters used) and ▲accuracy (compliance with language norms and appropriateness of sentences), and institutions were classified as Excellent, Average, or Needs Improvement.
The institute was recognized for using plain, easy-to-understand Korean instead of loanwords or technical terminology in its press releases, as well as for strictly adhering to spelling and language norms, which led to its selection as an Excellent institution in this evaluation.
To promote the correct use of public language, the institute has made multifaceted efforts, including operating its own press release self-check system, providing press release writing education for staff, and distributing materials on proper use of public language.
Sondra Shin, President of the Korea Women's Rights Promotion Institute, stated, "Official documents are an important communication channel that connects institutions with the public and a symbol of trust. We will continue to lead the way in ensuring the public's right to information and spreading a clear and easily understandable language culture."
