A lecture series featuring expert communication aimed at explaining quantum science in terms accessible to the general public will be held. This participatory program, which emphasizes Q&A sessions, is designed to make complex quantum concepts more approachable and easier to understand.
On April 28, the Gwacheon National Science Museum announced that it will host “Quantum Talk,” a lecture program connected to the 2026 brand exhibition “Quantum Generation,” once a month from May 9 through August. The lectures will be structured with a 60:40 ratio of presentations to Q&A, and participation will be enhanced by offering a pre-lecture audio guide and a real-time question system.
The program will feature experts from the fields of physics, science education, philosophy, and quantum information. In May, Kangyoung Lee, professor at Gyeongsang National University, and Gapjin Kim, professor at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), will explain the fundamentals of quantum mechanics. In June, Seongmin Lim, professor at Daegu University, and the science YouTuber “Science Cookie” will discuss directions for quantum education.
In July, Sangwook Lee, professor at Hanyang University, and other researchers will introduce philosophical debates surrounding quantum mechanics. In August, Jinhyung Lee, professor at Hanyang University, Sangwook Han, director at Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), and Seokkyun Son, professor at Kyung Hee University, will present their outlook on the future of quantum technology.
The lectures will be held at 3:00 p.m. every Saturday each month in the Imagination Hall of the Gwacheon National Science Museum, lasting 90 minutes. Participation is recommended for those in grade 4 of elementary school and above. The participation fee is 5,000 won, and advance reservations can be made through the museum’s website.
Jaesik Shin, acting director of the Gwacheon National Science Museum, stated, “This program is designed to help people easily understand and directly engage with quantum science,” adding, “We will continue to expand science culture communication in connection with our exhibitions.”
