On April 28, the city announced that from May 1 to May 31, it will run the "Family Dining Cashback Support Program," which reimburses 10% of the payment amount when using Gwangmyeong Love Currency at restaurants and cafes.

This program was established both to provide practical relief for households during the Month of Family, when dining out demand peaks amid high inflation, and to support local small businesses struggling with sluggish consumption.

The cashback benefit applies when making payments at restaurants and cafes that are affiliated with Gwangmyeong Love Currency.

In particular, by temporarily expanding the eligible local currency merchants to those with annual sales of up to 3 billion won until August 31, in line with the criteria for high oil price damage support, the range of participating merchants eligible for the family dining cashback benefit has also been broadened.

Participants can receive an immediate refund of 10% of the payment amount (excluding incentives and policy allowance payments) in Gwangmyeong Love Currency, up to a maximum of 10,000 won per person. The program may end early if the allocated budget is exhausted.

The cashback received must be used within one month from the date of issuance; otherwise, it will be automatically forfeited.

The list of merchants eligible for cashback can be checked on the Gyeonggi Local Currency app.

Choi Hye-min, acting mayor (vice mayor) of Gwangmyeong City, stated, "I hope this cashback support will become a strong pillar for small business owners and a catalyst for citizens to spend warm, meaningful time with their families. We will continue to promote various consumption-boosting policies using Gwangmyeong Love Currency to invigorate the local economy."
