The National Maritime Heritage Research Institute announced on April 28 that it will change its operating method so that visitors can apply for the exhibition guide service at the Mokpo Maritime Museum on-site without prior reservation.
Previously, making a reservation by phone was required, but starting from this day, anyone can participate by filling out an application form at the information desk of the exhibition hall.
The regular on-site guided tours are held twice a day, at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., from Tuesday to Sunday each week. Each session lasts for 40 minutes and up to fifteen participants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Visitors can tour Exhibition Halls 1 through 4 with a volunteer guide and hear about the history of underwater excavation in Korea and stories of maritime relics.
The institute will also continue to operate the previous phone reservation system. Starting in July, the number of daily guided tours will be increased to four.
