The Korea TV Home Shopping Association announced on April 27 that it has officially appointed Im Gwanggi, former editorial writer at SBS, as the new chairman following approval by the board of directors and the general meeting.
The term of office for the newly appointed Chairman Im Gwanggi will begin on May 6 and last for three years. Chairman Im graduated from the Department of Journalism and Broadcasting and the graduate school at Chung-Ang University. He also served as a visiting scholar at North Carolina State University in the United States. Since entering the media industry in 1987, he has accumulated extensive field experience by working in the political, social, and economic departments at SBS, and has held positions including Head of New Media, Head of Election Broadcasting Planning, and Editorial Writer.
In particular, in 1996, he delivered an in-depth report exposing the illegal fetal gender determination practices in obstetrics and gynecology, earning the 'Journalist of the Month Award' from the Journalists Association of Korea, as well as the Reporter Award at the Korea Broadcasting Awards. From 2019, he served as the Director of the National Assembly Broadcasting Station for three years, contributing to strengthening program competitiveness and improving channel image. After retirement, he dedicated himself to nurturing the next generation at Ewha Womans University’s Journalism School. He also served as Vice Chairman of Financial Today, a comprehensive economic media outlet, and has continued to be broadly active across the media and journalism sector.
The Korea TV Home Shopping Association is a non-profit incorporated association registered with the Broadcasting Media Communications Committee. Its member companies include GS Retail (GS Shop), CJ ENM (CJ OnStyle), Hyundai Home Shopping, Woori Home Shopping (Lotte Home Shopping), NS Shopping (NS Home Shopping), and Home&Shopping.
