With this victory, Hwaseong extended their unbeaten streak to three matches (2 wins, 1 draw), maintaining 8th place in the league with 12 points (3 wins, 3 draws, 3 losses), and laid the foundation for a leap into the upper-mid table.
On the day, Hwaseong operated a 3-4-3 formation, deploying an unconventional five-back defensive tactic to control the match. In the 21st minute of the first half, Hwaseong earned a penalty kick after a foul by Seoul E-Land defender Park Changhwan during an attacking sequence at the right edge of the box, and Plana calmly converted it to score the opening goal.
In the second half, Hwaseong made a decisive move by substituting in Demetrius and Ham Sunwoo in the 63rd minute. Demetrius received a short pass from Plana in the 78th minute, penetrated the penalty box, and scored with a composed shot-both the winning goal and his first goal of the season. It was a shining moment highlighted by Demetrius’s signature Brazilian ball control and aggressive pressing, which lifted the team’s spirits.
Although Hwaseong conceded a goal to Seoul E-Land’s Park Jaeyong, who scored with a header in the 84th minute, Hwaseong’s defense held firm against the opposition’s attacks for the remainder of the match, securing all three points.
Hwaseong FC manager Cha Duri said, “I want to thank our fans who cheered us on despite the away setting. The strategy we prepared worked well against a strong Seoul E-Land side. We will address the shortcomings from this match and show an even more complete performance in the next game.”
Meanwhile, Hwaseong FC will play a home match against Ansan Greeners FC at 2:00 p.m. on May 3. Tickets for this match will be available for reservation through NolTicket starting at 2:00 p.m. on April 28.
