Jin Sun Jeon, Mayor of Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Province (People Power Party), held a press conference at the Yangpyeong County Office briefing room on April 27, officially announcing his candidacy for the 10th nationwide local elections to be held on June 3. Mayor Jeon placed 'responsibility' and 'results' at the forefront as the reasons for his bid for re-election.

He stated, "I am here to ensure stable governance that prioritizes the prosperity and happiness of the residents, and to continue pursuing forward-thinking policies currently underway without interruption."

Reflecting on the four years of the 8th directly elected administration, Mayor Jeon evaluated, "The past years have been a time to restore the administrative system to its proper place, redefine Yangpyeong's development direction, and lay the groundwork for the future."

He further explained, "Through the revitalization of tourism, we have laid the foundation for local economic recovery, and by improving living infrastructure and the environment, we have gradually expanded welfare that residents can truly feel."

In particular, Mayor Jeon emphasized 'continuity' as the core meaning of his re-election bid. He stated unequivocally, "Re-election is not simply a matter of serving another term as mayor," and stressed that "it is an essential condition for translating the achievements so far into tangible improvements in residents' daily lives."

On this day, Mayor Jeon also unveiled key pledges for the 9th directly elected administration to complete the vision of a 'charming Yangpyeong.' The main points include: ▲ Establishing a riverside tourism belt centered on the Namhan River and Bukhan River and introducing tourism infrastructure (such as tourism taxis and tour buses); ▲ Transforming into a 'four-season stay-type tourism city' by building a foundation for wellness tourism and workation opportunities; ▲ Expanding an integrated and comprehensive care system and ensuring secure welfare for residents; ▲ Improving the transportation system by creating specialized local industrial complexes and expanding the road network.

Mayor Jeon appealed for support, stating, "I will take full responsibility for the work I have started and prove my promises to the residents with concrete results. I will become a mayor who brings real change to the lives of our people, writing a new chapter in Yangpyeong's history."

Mayor Jeon previously served as chief of the Yangpyeong Police Station and as chairman of the Yangpyeong County Council before being elected as the 8th directly elected mayor of Yangpyeong in 2022. He is recognized for his strong drive stemming from his police background and his communication skills honed through legislative experience. In this election, he plans to appeal to voters by highlighting his 'incumbency advantage' and 'high rate of pledge fulfillment.'

Meanwhile, with Mayor Jeon's registration as a preliminary candidate completed on this day, Yangpyeong County will operate under the acting authority of the Deputy Mayor until the election.
