Director Kim plans to present the message that "dance, in the end, is an art that reveals the person," by maintaining the essence of traditional dance while adding a modern interpretation. The core of this performance is to present "living dance," which goes beyond simple reproduction to showcase the inner world of the dancers.
The stage is composed of a "three dancers, three colors" format, featuring three dancers with distinct artistic styles. Kim Nayoung, director of the Gugak Center 'Yeon,' Lee Hyunhee, head of the Gwangju branch of the Korea Traditional Dance Association, and Kim Youngwoon, director of Mokpo Gyobang, will each present their own dance language, creating a space of harmony and coexistence.
The main program centers on traditional dances designated as National Intangible Cultural Heritage such as Seungmu, Salpuri, and Taepyeongmu, and is further enriched with Daesinmu, Gyobang Heoteunchum, and Jindo Bukchum. The stage will be elevated by the vibrant live accompaniment of the traditional Korean music ensemble 'Noreumpan,' delivering a highly polished performance where dance and music are closely intertwined.
Artistic Director Kim Nayoung stated, "The meaning lies in sharing emotions with the audience through the expressions accumulated from each dancer's life and time," adding, "Even within the same rhythm, dances with different textures will intersect, resulting in an organic stage that connects tradition and the present."
This performance brings together leading experts in each field, such as Artistic Director Kim Seungho, Director Kwon Jiin, and Music Director Kim Wongeun, as well as talented musicians including Lee Eunbi and Kim Junyoung, further deepening the stage. This performance, which connects tradition and modernity, individuals and relationships, is expected to deliver a profound artistic resonance to the local community.
