Jinju City in South Gyeongsang Province will hold the second expert lecture of the "2026 First Half Garden Culture Conference," which is being organized to promote the spread of garden culture in citizens' daily lives, on April 30.
This lecture will take place at 2 p.m. that day in the Dareum Hall of the "Jinju within Wolasan Forest" Wood Culture Experience Center. It aims to highlight the value and significance of gardens for cities and communities by connecting various fields such as architecture, urban regeneration, and village renewal through the medium of gardens.
Two experts will participate in the lecture. Architect Sung-Hoon Kim from JIEUM PLUS will speak on "Whispers of a Sustainable City: Dreaming of an Old Future," discussing the "Biophilic" concept of integrating the relationship between nature and humans into spaces, and explaining the importance of green spaces and their connection to urban sustainability, using examples from Paris, France.
Next, Do-Hoon Kim, director of Landscape Summer, will present on "Awakening to the Era of Gardens: Citizens’ Participation and Roles," introducing a variety of case studies that show how gardens cultivated and managed by residents themselves contribute to the restoration of local communities.
Through this conference, Jinju City intends to demonstrate the potential of gardens as a medium connecting cities and people, and to lay the foundation for the spread of garden culture based on active citizen participation.
Meanwhile, Jinju City will host the "2026 Jinju Garden Expo" from June 18 to 21 at the local garden area of "Jinju within Wolasan Forest." Themed "Jinju Garden Together and Delight: Cultivate, Experience, and Share," the expo will feature a variety of contents, including garden exhibitions, a garden industry fair, conferences, and hands-on activities. The event will focus on citizen participation to promote the spread of garden culture and revitalize the local garden industry.
