Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on April 27 that it plans to partially open the entrance ramp toward Seongnam on National Route 3 (Seongnam-Janghowon) in Jungdae-dong at 7:00 a.m. on May 6, as part of the ongoing construction of entrance and exit ramps for the expressway.

The project will cover a total length of 1.856 kilometers and a width ranging from 5.5 to 11 meters, with a total project cost of 51.9 billion won.
However, the overall completion of the construction has been delayed from the original schedule due to slope collapses that occurred in sections of the entrance ramp toward Gwangju on two occasions: August 18 last year and February 13 this year. To minimize inconvenience for residents and alleviate traffic congestion around Taejeon Interchange, the city has decided to open the entrance ramp toward Seongnam first.
The city expects that the opening of the Seongnam-bound entrance ramp will help disperse the traffic that had previously been concentrated between the Gosan Interchange on National Route 45 and the Taejeon Interchange, thereby improving traffic conditions in the area.
Mayor Bang Saehwan visited the construction site on April 22 to assess the progress and instructed thorough preparations to ensure there are no setbacks to the partial opening.
Mayor Bang stated, "This ramp has long been a wish of local residents, and the project needs to proceed swiftly to help disperse traffic volume," adding, "Please pay special attention to the safety of construction workers until the opening."
