Urban Music Stage 'Seoul Stage' to Be Held at Seoul Forest and Nodeul Island in May

To celebrate Family Month in May, the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture will present the urban music performance series "Seoul Stage," transforming everyday spaces into artistic venues at Seoul Forest and Nodeul Island.

The theme for the May edition is "Seoul Stage in the Garden," with the concept of "Comfort for Boys and Girls Who Have Grown Up." The stage will feature a medley of popular animation and movie theme songs from the 1970s and 1980s, aiming to evoke nostalgia for parents and offer fresh enjoyment for the younger generation.

The special performance, "Masterpieces in the Garden," will be presented in two themes. On May 6, the world music trio "Bandi" will perform theme songs of passionate robots and heroes under the theme "Dad's Heroes." On May 7, the gayageum band "Seojeongmin Trio" will deliver the delicate and resonant sounds of the 25-string gayageum, performing animation theme songs featuring protagonists wielding magic wands under the theme "Mom's Secret Friends." Both performances will be held in connection with the "2026 Seoul International Garden Expo" at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Seoul Forest outdoor stage.

On May 9, the stage will move to Nodeul Island, where "Bandi" and "Seojeongmin Trio" will present a collaborative performance against the backdrop of the sunset.

In addition, various performances will be held every Thursday throughout May. The lineup begins with the opening performance of the Seoul International Garden Expo at 5 p.m. on May 1, followed by a jazz performance by the "Seong Gimu Trio" on May 14 and a stage by violinist "Tak Boni Band" on May 21.

There will also be a citizen participation program. On May 28, "Fairy Tales on the Keys," a family-friendly piano performance where parents and children play cartoon OSTs together, will take place. Participating families will have the opportunity to perform onstage, creating special memories together.

Citizen performers will be selected through an open call until May 5. Any family in Seoul may apply, and details on the application schedule and process will be provided on the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture website, as well as the Seoul Stage and Piano Seoul Instagram accounts.

Song Hyungjong, CEO of the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, stated, "Through these performances, I hope people can briefly recall the innocence of childhood, finding rest and comfort amid their busy routines. As we celebrate Family Month, I look forward to this meaningful occasion where all generations can connect through music, linking the nostalgia of parents with the emotions of their children."

Seoul Stage will continue to be held throughout the year at various locations in Seoul. In particular, in September, performances are planned to be held in conjunction with the "Seoul Street Arts Festival" at Ttukseom, Seoul Forest, and other venues.
