On April 27, Choi Hwiyeong, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will meet with representatives from the content and internet service industries at the Korea Copyright Protection Agency to explain the purpose and expected effects of the emergency and access blocking system for illegal websites, as well as the current status of preparations for its implementation.

The emergency and access blocking system, introduced as a result of the amendment to the Copyright Act, will take effect from May 11. This system will enable prompt blocking measures against sites that distribute illegal content.

The meeting will be attended by representatives from the Korea Copyright Protection Agency, CJ ENM, the Korean Broadcasters Association, Naver Webtoon, Kakao Entertainment, the Korea Cartoonists Association, the Korea Game Industry Association, and internet service providers such as KT, SK Broadband, LG Uplus, and Dreamline.

The content industry will share the seriousness of copyright infringement and the status of their own countermeasures. The internet service industry will present the procedures and methods for carrying out access blocking measures.

Minister Choi stated, "The long-standing wishes of creators and the content industry, along with our sense of mission to protect copyright, have been the driving force behind the establishment of this system," adding, "We will remain vigilant until illegal websites disappear."
